Bridal Veil Falls is a 120 foot
Waterfall in Western NC that
plummets right over US 64. Located
just a few miles away from Highlands
NC, Bridal Veil Falls is aptly named
as this waterfall resembles a bride's
beautiful veil. If you visit during
winter, the falls can be
frozen resembling a breathtaking solid
display. Hickory Nut Falls is
perhaps the most famous of the
Western North Carolina Waterfalls - after it was featured in the major
motion picture The Last of the
Mohicans, this 404 waterfall was
named the Tallest Waterfall in North
Carolina. Located in the Hickory Nut
Gorge at the Chimney Rock, this
waterfall is often visited and
photographed. The easy hiking trail
to get to the Western North Carolina
Waterfalls at Hickory Nut Falls is
less than a mile. Also, The
Waterfalls on the Blue Ridge Parkway
such as Crabtree Falls, a short
drive from Asheville NC are also
spectacular. Crabtree Falls is
located at Crabtree Meadows and is a
popular spot for visitors to hike
and enjoy a picnic. The one mile
trail leads to the base of the
falls. These beautiful Waterfalls on
the Blue Ridge Parkway are created
by the Toe River and a 100 foot
cliff.
Other Western North Carolina
Waterfalls are located along Highway
276. Infamous Waterfalls North
Carolina like Sliding Rock and
Looking Glass Falls are found right
off the highway and are great spots
to stop and enjoy. Sliding Rock is a
smooth, flat rock that visitors
flock to in the summer months. A
popular swimming hole and natural
rock slide, Sliding Rock is
generally always busy; lifeguards
and attendants are on duty. Looking
Glass Falls is a 60 foot waterfall
that you can see from the highway.
In the winter months when this
Waterfall North Carolina freezes,
visitors say that it resembles a
solid mirror, or looking glass and
the infamous Looking Glass Rock is
located nearby. Looking Glass Falls
is located within the DuPont State
Forest, as are other Western North
Carolina Waterfalls nearby to our
North Carolina Mountain Campgrounds.
