regions of the NC Blue Ridge
Mountains, just minutes from

Cherokee NC.
For some of the best North Carolina Trout
Fishing near Asheville, head over to
the Davidson River, a large river
that is a tributary of the French
Broad River. Flowing through
beautiful regions of the
Pisgah
National Forest North Carolina, the
Davidson River is divided into three
sections; each has its own rules and
regulations. The Lower Davidson
River flows near the national forest
boundary all the way to Avery’s
Creek and is classified as a
hatchery supported water, meaning
this portion of the river is open
year around except during the month
of March, and it is stocked
regularly. The middle portion of the
Davidson River flows from Avery’s
Creek to Looking Glass Creek and is
a catch and release only area, and
you must only use artificial fly
lures! State and federal game
officials strictly enforce these
rules. The upper portion of the
Davidson River is definitely the
best portion of the river to enjoy
for North Carolina Trout Fishing. It
flows from Looking Glass Creek to
the NC State Fish Hatchery and
Pisgah Wildlife Center and is the
section of the river that is famous
for its large size catches!
In addition to the great Fly Fishing
North Carolina on the Davidson,
other rivers like the French Broad
and the North Mills River are
perfect
for Fishing Western North Carolina.
The French Broad has over 40 miles
of world class smallmouth bass
fishing, making it a top destination
for those looking to enjoy Bass
Fishing in North Carolina. Plan an
NC Camping and Fishing trip during
the summer months and enjoy
Whitewater Rafting in Asheville on
the French Broad and Fishing Western
North Carolina as well. The North
Mills River is a highly popular Fly
Fishing North Carolina river that
flows through Henderson County NC
just a few minutes away from our
Campgrounds in NC. A seasonal river,
the North Mills River is best for
Fly Fishing North Carolina during catch and
release time which lasts from October
1st to the first Saturday in June.
During this season, the wildlife
officials stock the river monthly,
and on average anglers catch fish
between 10 and 16 inches long!
In addition to the secluded Fly
Fishing North Carolina in the Pisgah
National Forest and near the NC Blue
Ridge Parkway, the DuPont State
Forest is also home to rivers that
create some of the area’s famous
Western North Carolina Waterfalls
and also offer some perfect Fly
